B Meson Transitions into Higher Mass Charmed Resonances

We use QCD sum rules to estimate the universal form factors describing the semileptonic B decays into excited charmed resonances, such as the 1 and 2 states D 1 and D ∗ 2 belonging to the s P l = 3 2 − heavy quark doublet, and the 2 and 3 states D 2 and D3 belonging to the s P l = 5 2 − doublet. “Fondazione Angelo Della Riccia” Fellow. Semileptonic B decays into higher charmed resonances.
We apply HQET to semi-leptonic B meson decays into a variety of excited charm states. Using three realistic meson models with fermionic light degrees of freedom, we examine the extent that the sum of exclusive single charmed states account for the inclusive semi-leptonic B decay rate. The consistency of form factors with the Bjorken and Voloshin sum rules is also investigated.
